Description: The Illinois Sexual Assault and Medical Forensic Services 2-hour Training is being provided by the Office of the Illinois Attorney General SANE Program to meet the mandatory continuing education requirement for responding to sexual assault survivors as addressed in the Sexual Assault Survivors Emergency Treatment Act (410 ILCS 70/2).

Not included in this training, but also required by the law, is information on the hospital's sexual assault-related policies and procedures. Please make sure to check with your hospital regarding these additional requirements.

Objectives: The training will contain the following:
(1) Information provided on the provision of medical forensic services;
(2) Information on the use of the Illinois Sexual Assault Evidence Collection Kit; and
(3) Information on sexual assault epidemiology, neurobiology of trauma, drug-facilitated sexual assault, child sexual abuse, and Illinois sexual assault-related laws.
