Description:
The Safe Opioid Prescribing series consists of 10 online modules, each approximately 30 minutes in length, collectively fulfilling 5 hours CME credit for medical providers and pharmacists. In the eight module, Dr. Amanda Mullins examines novel and evolving drugs being increasingly misused across populations. Topics include synthetic cannabinoids, benzodiazepines, cathinones ("bath salts"), opioids and analogues, khat, and tianeptine ("gas-station heroin"). The presentation discusses pharmacologic mechanisms, adverse effects, and public health implications while identifying at-risk populations and prevention barriers. Learners will gain insight into current misuse trends and understand the clinical and societal challenges associated with emerging psychoactive substances
