Description: This series is designed to train providers in opioid prescribing best practices through 6 enduring online modules. These modules satisfy the 3-hour requirement in Opioid Safe Prescribing Practices by IDFPR to renew Controlled Substances Registration in Illinois.

In Module 4, Jerel Ezell, PhD, MPH, MA discusses the importance of cultural humility in practice and research as well as how to become culturally humble in interacting with people who use opioids.
Professionals who engage with people who use drugs contribute to shaping the culture of rural opioid use culture. Dr. Ezell asks listeners to consider how we, as professionals in this space, shape and navigate these cultures and how they shape us.
