Description:
The 6 online modules in this series, each 30 minutes long, together meet the CME requirement for 3 hours of safe opioid prescribing for medical providers and pharmacists. In this fifth module, Dr. Cooperstein gives a patient-centered approach for prescribing opioids based on the 2022 CDC Guideline. His discussion centers around talking to and caring for the patient through safe prescribing and guideline-based, collaborative patient care.

Objectives:
At the conclusion, learners will be able to:
- Apply strategies for responsibly initiating treatments with opioids for patients in acute pain
- Review the application of opioids in the setting of chronic pain
- Learn to safely monitor patients on opioid analgesics
- Review ways to mitigate opioid misuse and harm
