Utilizing the lecture approach and case conferences as the didactic methodologies the aim of this program is to provide our physicians and allied professionals with a range of material that will enhance their ability to treat our patients incorporating the new and changing knowledge in the psychiatric field and relevant areas of general medicine. Focus on the management and prevention of violence and the rational use of polypharmacy will be highlighted but there will be efforts to provide education over a broad expanse of areas relevant to the care of our patients who present serious mental illness complicated by challenging medical problems from multi-cultural backgrounds. Interventions to enhance recovery and to target the illness with specificity backed by evidence based practice will be an important element in our program. Each program lasts 1.5 hours and allows for questions and answers and is primarily targeted at physicians and other allied professionals. Commercial support will not be sought for this activity.
